‘Recycle for a better tomorrow’
Our purpose is ‘to change the way people think about scrap’ . The need for sustainability cannot always be met completely with people collecting scrap from homes and business premises. There are areas where scrap collection, recycling and disposal is still a challenge. Factors like unfair price, no unified pricing systems, lack of knowledge in handling scraps with its associated risks, improper disposal, ignorance about correct recycling methods etc are a few to name. To solve these issues the Kerala Scrap Merchants Association (KSMA) has developed a plan that rectifies all the above issues.
This is accomplished by using a single unified mobile platform, ‘Akrikada’ which will manage scrap from start to finish. ‘Akrikada’ will control the collection and coordination of scraps from the origin to the destination in the first phase. The user can upload the specifics of the scrap, and it will be picked up by a person from the local collecting centre, while also receiving a reasonable price and alleviating the hassle of scrap disposal. The scrap gathered from the centralised unit will be transferred for recycling or scientific disposal, and the entire process will be environmentally beneficial.
